:: THIS SONG'S STORY ::

(Written Feb 2013)

You either love or loathe this one.

I Love Ukuleles took a surprisingly long time to write. It was hard to find the right words and then to set them up properly within the song. At one point I scanned a dictionary for ideas. Then asked for ideas on our Facebook page.

The whole time I'm working on this song I'm also nervous because Hawaiians pronounce the instrument's name "oo-koo-lay-lay." But I'm using the Americanized pronunciation "you-ka-layl-lay." The idea was strong enough that we turned it into a duet and just tried to have some fun.

I thought it was amusing to have a little kid correct my improper pronunciation of "ukulele" at the end of the song, so I had my 3 year old son set the record straight. Only problem was he couldn't pronounce the word "pronounce," so the punchline came out extra sweet.

lyrics

:: LYRICS ::

I love ukuleles
I love ukuleles
I love ukuleles
And I love you too

I love unicycles
I love unicycles
I love unicycles
And I love you too

All my life
I've wanted to
Love someone
Somebody like ukuleles

I love U.F.O. sitings
I love unique people
I love unanimous decisions
And I love you too

I love useless banter
I love unicorns
I love ukuleles
Oh and I love you too

If I could find
Space in my heart
Would you like
To come inside for a while?
All my life
I've wanted to
Love someone
Somebody like ukuleles

I love you completely
I'll love you forever
I love you my sweetheart
Oh and I love ukuleles too
