This song was written July 7, 2011.

Since becoming a father in 2011 I started taking more walks. It's become a little ritual with my son and I , and we'll take a couple walks a day to help him fall asleep. Sometimes we're walking in pitch dark in the middle of the night when he can't sleep, other times early in the morning just as the birds are waking up.

This song "Reflections" began on one of those walks. I was just humming and singing and this song started to come out. I sang the verses over and over to him so I would remember them by the time I got back home to a pencil. While he slept I quietly plucked out the melody on the guitar so that wouldn't get lost either.

The recording on Apple Apple was accidental. When I'm recording I'll often take a break by recording songs that I don't intend to release. This was one of them. I added some harmonies and a second guitar part, but left it pretty minimal. I thought it was truer that way.
