:: THIS SONG'S STORY ::

I did not write Sun Song. This song was written by Ari Lesser, a spoken-word artist I met at the Oregon Country Fair a few years back.

An early morning, sun was rising on a gathering of morning people just waking up, and Ari steps out to sing Sun Song to us all. There was no stage or amplification. Just a guy and his voice. It was a beautiful moment.

I approached him after the song and told him I loved the song. He gave me a CD with a bunch of his music and poetry and it had Sun Song on the disc.

His lyrics had a number of references that I was uncomfortable singing on an album for families so I rewrote some of the words. I wrote some guitar accompaniment for the song and The Harmonica Pocket has been playing this song at summer shows for a few years.

As I was getting ready to release the album Sundrops, I got in touch with Ari again to ask for his blessing on the changes and additions I made to his song.

Ari is prolific and has a bunch of albums he has released on Bandcamp: arithemc.bandcamp.com
